Graduate Student Groups

The GSA is here to enhance the experience of all grad students, and one of the ways in which we do this is by encouraging engagement by facilitating Graduate Student Groups (GSGs). We encourage you to start your own group based on research, cultural, or special interests.

Register your Graduate Student Group with the GSA

By registering your Graduate Student Group with the GSA, you are eligible to receive Start-up Grant and Event Grants. Please review the GSG Handbook and Policy. If you have any questions, please contact the Governance & Services Coordinator at events.gsa@ucalgary.ca.

Event Support

The GSA is pleased to provide DGAs, GSGs, and Consortium with event support. Any questions or inquiries about an event that you would like to organize can be sent to events.gsa@ucalgary.ca (equipment rental, support) or governance.gsa@ucalgary.ca (event grants). Fill out the Event Submission Form to formally request GSA support for an event.

Your GSG can book classrooms/tables/green spaces directly through the UCalgary Accommodations & Events (UCAE) website!

You are encouraged to host online (virtual) events at this time, however current University of Calgary guidelines and processes for hosting in-person events can be found HERE. Please review this thoroughly if you are planning in-person events on campus at
