In 2016 the Professional Development Grants and Group Project Grants were combined into the Academic Project Support Grant (APSG). There are two types of this grant available, both of which can be applied for using the same form:

  • Individual APSG
  • Group APSG

Academic Project Support Grant

Applications will be accepted between September 18 and October 2

Deadline: October 2, 2017

Grants are available to individual graduate students and groups of students who are actively involved in an academic project, not directly related to their degree requirements, but which will be of value to their future careers. Recognized academic projects may include, but are not limited to: presenting at an academic conference, developing a prototype for public presentation or participation in a contest, exhibit or performance, getting a work published, courses such as English for Academic Purposes for Graduate Students or innovation and entrepreneurship workshops (among others), attendance at workshops and hosting workshops, and professional skills and development.


Innovation Development Grant

Deadline: February 5, 2018

Calling all graduate student innovators!

Do you have an innovative idea for a product or service? Are you looking for funding and support tailored to graduate students to push your ideas to market?

Innovation Development Awards are available to all UCalgary graduate students who are looking to productize their research, or those who have an innovative product or service idea. The award package features upwards of $20,000 in prizes, free professional business mentorship services from Innovates Calgary and much more in subsidized in-kind services.
