Friday, October 25| 6:45pm – 8:45 p.m. (MDT)| UCalgary climbing wall | $15/TICKET
Join the GSA for an introductory indoor climbing session—no experience required! Learn how to properly fit a harness, practice belaying techniques, and master essential climbing communication. You’ll get plenty of hands-on practice with belaying and lowering climbers in a fun and engaging environment.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:
- After purchasing a ticket through our site, you will be sent an email with a link to register and sign the mandatory waiver with the U of C Outdoor Centre.
- Maximum of 1 (one) ticket per participant.
- This event is only open to University of Calgary Graduate Students. Please register with your UCalgary email address.
- Limited spots available.
- All participants must be over 18 years of age.
CHECKLIST:
- Wear:
- Comfortable athletic clothing
- Clean runners
- Any long hair tied back
Bring:
- Water bottle
- Change of footwear/clothing if needed for outdoor weather during travel
ITINERARY:
- Meeting Point: University of Calgary Outdoor Centre climbing wall, in the Kinesiology basement.
- Arrival Time: Please arrive 15-30 minutes before the event starts.
PARKING AND DROP-OFF:
- North Access: Bus drop-off is from Collegiate Blvd off 32nd Ave NW. Drop-off Location Map
- South Access: Use University Gate to University Court from 24th Ave NW. Drop-off Location Map
BUILDING ACCESS:
- Enter through the Olympic Oval entrance.
- Proceed east into Kinesiology and downstairs to the basement.
- The climbing wall is accessible through KNB 80, near the gymnastics center and Jack Simpson gymnasium.
COST INCLUDES:
- Instructors
- Gym booking
- Climbing equipment (excluding shoes)*: Shoes are available in limited sizes and quantities. Please wear running shoes if possible; any additional shoe costs will be covered by the GSA.
If you or anyone in your household has a fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose or shortness of breath, or is a close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19, please do not attend the event.
