The University of Calgary Students’ Union (SU) and Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) are working together to make sure student voices are heard in the upcoming municipal election. We want to ensure both your ballot and your concerns shape this election.

Get Out the Vote – October 9th
Ward 7 Councillor Debate

- Mac Hall Ballroom
Come early to scan a QR code and submit your questions to the candidates. This is your chance to hear directly from Ward 7 candidates about their priorities and vision for Calgary.
On-Campus Voting and Ice Cream
- Wednesday, October 9
- 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Dining Centre
Cast your ballot on campus and enjoy ice cream as a thank you for participating in democracy.
Student Priorities in the Election
The GSA has also been working to ensure graduate student needs are part of the municipal conversation.
Calgary Student Alliance 2025 Priorities
- Based on more than 1,000 responses to the GSA’s Annual Survey
- Highlights include:
- Improved public transit
- More family housing options
- Greater support for student housing
Advocacy with Community Partners
The SU and GSA met with major stakeholders, including the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, to advocate for these priorities. The Chamber has called for additional funding and support for post-secondary housing downtown, showing that student concerns are gaining traction.
