SEEC Subcommittee Members 2026-27
The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) of the University of Calgary is seeking engaged and committed graduate students to serve as Members of the following subcommittees of the Student Experience and Engagement Committee (SEEC) for the 2026–27 term:
- Newcomers and International Students Subcommittee (NISS)
- Mental Health and Wellness Subcommittee (MHW)
- GSA² Subcommittee
- Events Subcommittee
The Student Experience and Engagement Committee (SEEC) is dedicated to improving the graduate student experience and enhancing graduate students’ engagement with the GSA’s initiatives, programs, and events. Chaired by a member of the Elected Council, SEEC and its subcommittees provide opportunities for graduate students to contribute their perspectives, support their peers, and help foster an inclusive, connected, and engaging graduate student community.
This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with the GSA, contribute to initiatives that directly impact graduate students, connect with the broader campus community, and gain valuable leadership and service experience.

The GSA² (Gender and Sexuality Alliance) Subcommittee is looking for passionate and committed graduate students to join its leadership team as Vice Chair or Vice Chair of Advocacy. Both positions offer an opportunity to get involved, develop leadership skills, and contribute to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment for 2SLGBTQIA+ graduate students at the University of Calgary.
Vice Chair – GSA² Subcommittee
The Vice Chair supports the Chair in the overall coordination and development of GSA². This role focuses on strengthening the GSA² community, supporting the planning and delivery of events and initiatives, encouraging student engagement, and helping advance the subcommittee’s goals and priorities.
Vice Chair of Advocacy – GSA² Subcommittee
The Vice Chair of Advocacy focuses on representing and supporting the interests of 2SLGBTQIA+ graduate students. This role involves identifying issues affecting the community, supporting advocacy initiatives, collaborating with campus and community partners, and helping promote awareness, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Faculty Graduate Representative
The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) is continuing to accept applications for Faculty Graduate Representative positions for the 2026–27 term.
Faculty Graduate Representatives support graduate student advocacy and representation within their faculty and across the university.

Volunteer for Awards Committee
This is an opportunity to build your CV, gain practical experience in application review, develop valuable skills, and learn more about graduate student funding while supporting fellow graduate students and contributing to the graduate student community.
Key Responsibilities
- Review assigned award and bursary applications
- Assess applications according to established eligibility and evaluation criteria
- Help ensure applications are reviewed fairly, consistently, and confidentially
- Attend committee meetings as required
