Overview of the GSA Health & Dental Plan

To help University of Calgary graduate students pay for the health services they need, the GSA has partnered with Studentcare in order to provide students with extended health and dental coverage. The Plan is designed specifically to fill the gaps in provincial care (the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan - AHCIP).

Change to September - August Policy Year

Going forward, the GSA health and dental insurance is transitioning to a September 1 to August 31 policy year for all students. This change will impact premium fees of graduate students with programs starting in January, May and July 2023.

Empower Me is a short-term solution for your mental health concerns. Empower Me allows students to connect with qualified counsellors, consultants, and life coaches for a variety of issues.

Try these two virtual services for professional health advice and consultation.

Dialogue Virtual Health Care Service

As an eligible student, you now have access to Dialogue—an online service offered through your student Plan administrator, Studentcare, that connects you virtually with nurses and physicians.

Empower Me Student Assistant Program

Students covered by the GSA Health Plan have access to Empower Me to connect with qualified counsellors, consultants, and life coaches for a variety of issues. As a student covered by the GSA Health Plan, you're entitled to sessions delivered in person, by telephone, by video-counselling, or by e-counselling.
